I was thinking of updating the rims on my 84 to a newer style chrome set. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any websites that sells rims specifically for this year vette. I was also wondering if the tires that are currently mounted on my stock wheels would fit onto the new rims or if they usually need to be replaced in the process. Does anyone have any recommendations??? Thanks in advance.

I bought 4 new polished ZR-1 5 spokes off ebay for 560.00....

There are a ton of wheels on E-bay. Just type 84 Corvette in the search window. :w

I got a great deal on some excellent C5 chrome wheels from TomZwheels.com

When I had them mounted and installed, all 4 took only 1/2 ounce of weight to balance out, the tire guys said is was more likely the tires than the rims because they were such a great product.

Depending on the rim you choose will depend on weather or not your tires will fit. Your tires are probably P255 50R 16. newer wheels are around P275 40R 17 The newer wheels are a bit wider and the rims are typically 17in

Ebay is a great place to buy wheels though. Great deals. Don't buy new ones, first off you have to send in the old ones as a core, plus the cost is much more. Def go with ebay.

AFS Wheels sells ZR-1 type wheels with the required 38mm offset for your 84. They have sets of 9.5" x17 wheels, and 9.5x17 and 11x17 wheels sets in silver, black, polished and chrome finishes. AFS does sell wheel and tire combination on eBay from time to time and you can save some money if you check everyso often Do a search of AFS Wheels on eBay.

Check out their website at www.afswheels.com for the details on the wheels they offer.

Just got a set of 17" Chrome ZR1s from AFS for $410. Almost got 'em for $300 but some butthead ran my bill up at the last minute. Guess that's all in the game, tho.

FYI - If you type in AFS 84-7 in the search block on eBay it will bring up all the rims and wheels they have for auction at that time that will fit your car.

wow. that was a sweet deal on those chrome zr1 wheels. I think thats what i plan to get for my 84 vette. They seem very flashy, yet they still retain that original appearance. I gotta try getting a deal like that myself. Maybe I'll go for the rims and tires already mounted. We'll see what happens.

Just a hint, Rider84..........Find what you want, put your max bid in and let it go. if you don't win, you'll get many other chances. Myself, I decided I wasn't going to spend more than 425.00 on the rims, 'cause shipping is 75.00. That was just what I was willing to spend. It took me 3 different auctions, but was worth it.
Good luck
Gordon

PS Make sure you're getting the ones that say 84-7 in the ad.

Wow those rims look really flashy on your car. I really love them. My vette is the same color too. Time to start bidding.

Wish I had a nicer camera, but maybe these will give you a better idea, rider84..........:D

Wow, I really appreciate these pics. Definitely helps out in making my decision cause I really wanted to see what they would look like on a black vette. And, just as I thought, they look hot. I gotta get them on my vette by spring.:beer
