Tonight at 8pm EST (Tuesday June 30th) and rebroadcast at various times during the week) on HD Theater will be an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they fix up and sell neglected cars!
I posted previously about how a CFI engine was used in one of their graphics...now I know why :cool

Saw that...looked good after the makeover. Do you think the sales guy ever splits the profits with the mechanic? The costs for the makeover or rebuild are always shown but never the labor costs.:confused

I watch this show all the time. They, Mike and Ed are just too funny sometimes. But I stayed up last night just to see this. Not because it was a 84 Vette, but I wanted to see if Ed, ' Ed China' is 6'6" and i just wanted to see if he could even get in the car. LOL But he is in reality a superb machanic, and if you watch closely last month he showed how to get the engine and gear box out of Porsche 911. I did this job once and I mean you got to know what your doing when working on a Porsche ! Nice cars, but difficult and expensive. By the way, a quid or pound is worth about $2.00, so when they spent 3K pounds for a trans rebuild it's 6K in our cash ? :w

I think they just roll the "profits" back into their budget. On the show they dont include labor costs becasue the premise is that you could do it yourself and thats what you'd spend. If you actually included the hours Ed spent they'd be in the hole each and every time!
I thought that in this episode they were VERY insulting to Vettes and American cars in general with their "electrics that always go wrong" comments, etc.
I think they did a pretty LOUSY job with the vette! They didnt even replace the hood or gas lid emblems, nor the wheel emblems!! They looked like garbage! What would that have cost 'em a hundred quid?
I thought it was funny how ED carpeted the roof and put material where it isnt even supposed to be, how they thought the roof was black on all the models, and their general ignorance on the different model years in general.
Even the dress up kit was LAME! 4 parts were all they could come up with? There are at least a dozen!
The highlight for me was seeing a Euro Version with its weirdo tail lights and reflectors, how the cornering lights were ALL amber and the fog lights were now existant. Its funny how they drove a restored American spec car and didnt even make the comparison.
:w
