I have a 84 vette, 4+3 Doug-Nash Trans. I know this car has the Z51 option but it also has the FE7 high perform. suspention. Can anyone tell me it the FE7 is part of the Z51 or included with the Z51 or is the FE7 all by it self? Also I am trying to find out how many 84s had both option. I also have the HE3, 3.07 ratio differ. witch is stock but not with Z51. The car has two tone paint I think was in small # compaired to total prod.

Only the two-tone would be comparitively rare. Nothing rare about any other 84, because they made so damn many.

How can you guys both (an '84 and an '88) have FE7 as an option code when it was last used in 1982, as the code for the Gymkhana Suspension? The code that began in 1984 and continued through the 1988 model year was FG3, and that designated Delco-Bilstein Shock Absorbers. FX3 became available in 1989 indicated Selective Ride and Handling, electronic.

Now I am really confused (So what else is new?): my build sheet shows FE7 also. :confused

Not everything, do I know Len. ;)

I received the scan of your build sheet but couldn't respond in that e-mail; I have a problem with my outgoing mail at the moment.

I don't remember or I don't understand the FE7 thing right now, my brain hurts. :L

I've gotta read some more of Mike Antonick's books to see why he doesn't include that reference. My memory seems to recall something, but then it is my memory after all, and that just ain't what she used to be! :L

1984 corvette ... F51, FE7 is Heavy duty suspension, then I have the HE3 is 3,07 rear gears. F51 is heavy duty shocks. I guess I answered my own question. The book ( CORVETTE Past.Present.Future). By the Editors of Consumer Guide. Copyright 1984. ....A 25mm bar was included wiyh the optional Z51 handling package. The steering changed from GMs usual recirculating ball to rack-and-pinion, with a fast 15.5:1 standard ratio and an even quicker 13.1:1 gear for the Z51 option. The Z51 package comprised heavy-duty shocks and the (FE7) Sport Suspension, plus the faster ratio steerind and a shorter 3.31:1 final drive. So now we know its all in the Z51 option.
