The question is in the Tach window do you have..
a) Just the tach
b) Tach with Upshift for best economy
c) Tach with the OverDrive symbol & Upshift for best economy
d) Just Tach... but the display switches from X 10 ( Under 1000 RPM ) to X 100 ( Over 1000 RPM )

Tell me what type you have, Year,Stick or Auto.

I'm repairing some dashes and I have all these types.. I'm not sure which one is correct for my car... 88 Convertible L98 Auto

Thanks
Mike

Mike,
I had an automatic '85 that had a tach that simply switched from X100 to X1000 only.

Can't say about the original...but the one in it now has the upshift but it never does anything. By the way...I am an Electronics Engineer and have been dying to get my hands on a cluster display....one I could take apart....hint...hint....

Upshift light

Mine USED to do weird things when the MAP sensor was bad...It would give me the UPSHIFT when doing about 60 at about 2000 rpm and If I went above or below by 300 rpm it would shut off !

I haven't tried to wind it out while locked on 1st to see if it works.

The clusters I have are to be repaired and at the rate I'm going... that will be a while

BTW still thrashing with my cruise...
Ive built an entire car simulator for just the dash cluster.... now the ONLY secret that evades me is WHERE is Q106

Another strange note here ( 85-89 clusters)
the OIL idiot light only comes on when the engine is "running" and you have no pressure.

I guess GM thought no oil at idle was OK!

Weird stuff
Mike
