ANY ONE HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE PICKUP COIL? ACCORDING TO CHILTONS SHOULD READ 500 - 1500 OHMS ACROSS COIL LEADS BUT i AM GTTING INFINITY WHICH MEANS COIL IS BAD HOW MUCH OF A PAIN IS IT RO REPLACE. i KNOW YOU HAVE TO REMOCE THE WHOLE DISTRIBUTOR BUT NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE. SUGGESTIONS?

Never had one out of a C4, so I don't know if there are firewall clearance issues. It would seem to me that it would be no different than removing any SBC distributor. Unplug all wiring & remove hold down clamp, pull it out. Just mark the position of the rotor to the dist body and the body to the manifold, make sure motor doesn't turn. Turn the motor to #1 TDC (#1 valves closed) beforehand if you like to make sure you're not 180 degrees off when installing, as #1 piston will come up to top twice.

IM NOT sure but why would you need to remove the whole distributor? isn't it in the top of the cap? why couldn't you just take the cap off and replace it? or am i thinking of a different type setup?..tom

I think he is talking about the reluctor/stator assembly, not the ignition coil in the cap. Maybe this website will help.
