Well,

I have a shot at a rather clean but average mile original 88 Anniversary Vette. 90,000 mile 4 plus 3 .

It is missing its original radio.....and being the fevent C3 owner that I am....I haven't a clue on what unit should be there.....or what type speakers.
Also- Was the glass roof on that model tinted any different than the regular production coupes? Spider webbing might make replacement a necessity.

And to close this out.......any good West Coast transporters out there? The car is out West and I'm in Ohio.

Thanks for any opinions and your time.......Jim

Here's some info on the 35th Anniversary car: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/c4/1988/88anniv.html The UU8 radio is a BOSE AM/FM Casette and each of the speakers are individually amplified. You can get original radios and speakers from eBay or the catalogs like Mid-America. Some people don't like the BOSE system and the speakers are expensive and can be problematic.

The transparent roof was standard on the 35th car but there are sources to replace the acrylic top so that should not be a biggie although it is somewhat pricey. The 35th Anniversary badges are no longer made and pretty difficult to find. The wheels were white so make sure you get those.

With average miles on the car and the good weather coming, you may want to consider flying out and driving it back. Much more fun than waiting for a car hauler to show up at your house.

88 Anniversary

The top is the standard blue tint and those can be found or replaced. The stereo as mentioned previously is there for the money. My preference would be to stay with an aftermarket system while accumulating the stock stuff for the possibility that you may sell it one day.
My concerns would be the condition of the interior and the overdrive unit behind the trans. The milage is a plus factor imho, definatly on the low side for 17 years.

After 6 years of ownership I sold mine for 9K back in 2001 with a 104 K on it.

One of the best apperance mods is a window tint on these !
Good luck with the car

Details right now are on shipping and fund transfer. I am buying into this 35th right if those 2 items fall into place. Only items missing are the floor mats, radio and speakers. All else is standard 88 Anniversary according to the checkoff list link you provided (thanks)

The 4 plus 3 is supposed to function fine.....interior very clean......and all emblems and placards in place. Its a two owner car. No "funny" history.
I agree on the window tint...unfortunately, my Highway Patrol doesn't . It sort of gives the car that "Marvin the Martian" look.

I will advise and add the car to my signature if I snag it.

Thanks, Jim

Floor mats you can still order for a 35th. As mentioned earlier its the emblems that are problems. The 4+3 is quite rare on these cars out of the 2050 build. I am slightly biased towards the car owning one. I feel it is one of the most visually striking C4 models ever made due to the white on black combo and the white interior. If you need to ship it try Fed-ex Custom Critical transport. I used them for my 71. very price competitive and no hidden gimmicks or charges. Good luck and let us know if you get it!!

The guy selling is partnered up with a guy 50 miles down the road from me...and he sends an 8 car transport through my neighborhood on a regular basis.( I-80)

Says his driver will beat the quotes I got. We'll see.

Its a week later, And I didn't buy the car. Aside from dealing with a death in the family and inheriting property 40 miles from me, the car deal presented some doubts in my my mind as far as the "other end" I won't go into details here, its just like that old adage, if it seems too good to be true, it probably isn't. You can PM me for details on the car, its location, #serial number, etc, in case you run into it in your travels. Thats all I will say here.

If you are still looking to buy?

I have a 1988 with 89,000 miles and a paint job that is less than a year old. I bought the car two years ago and I had the local GM dealer go thru and check everything and fix whatever needed fix. The car runs and looks great and I am located in Sidney, Ohio which is a straight shot south on I-75. My daughter is about to go to Ohio Northern University and it is costing more than I thought it would. Let me know if your interested.

Right now my efforts are tied into a "newly aquired" 40 year old brick ranch that needs a lot of updates. The car stuff has got to wait.
I know the pain of college cost, as I am just finishing paying off some of my older sons stuff from 4 years back. Luckily, my younger son starts Mt Union College this fall on a full ride.
