Hi, on my 88, just below left hand hood latch with hood up there is a small elec. box with an arrow pointing up and a knob on top. My question is, what the hell is it for ? Thanks

I think you are referring to your "Power Distributor Block"

The unit is just in front of drivers side door hinge with only two wires to it. It looks adjustable, I was wondering what it's function was. Thanks

Are you talking about inside the engine compartment or in the interior cabin? :confused

88 Distributor

Ken, It would be in the engine compartment, right under the hood latch/ striker, on the same plane as the firewall. It reads "up" with an arrow pointing that way and a knob on top of it. I was thinking VATS maybe ? Looks adjustable. Just wondering. Its on the drivers side. Thanks

Does it appear to be an aftermarket item? I can't picture anything except the power distribution block in that area of mine, sitting well below the battery. The '88 I am unclear on in that area.

If it has a dial for adjustment, and it is near the brake fluid reservoir, I would suspect it to be an aftermarket item, quite possibly a front/rear brake-bias adjuster.

Maybe a battery disconnect ...can you take a pic?

Nothing like that on my 88. THere are two relays on the firewall in back of the battery. THe MAF & Power Burn off. No adjustable knobs here. Below the battery just slightly to the rear, is a wiring terminal with a couple of wires on it.

Ken, You were correct, I researched further and found that my 88 has an aftermarket Clifford type alarm. That mysterious box was a motion detector, knob on top was for sensetivity. Thanks
