greetings,
i procrastinated too long and i had to be flat bedded home yesterday as my bearing crapped out on me. however, i had all the parts (bearing assemblies, 4 u-joints) sitting on the bench at home.

today, i attempted to replace and change out everything and broke 1 of the 3 torx 55 bolts off in the bearing assembly...ugh!!....since i had used plenty of "pb-blaster" during removal and just before assembly, i was able to easily extract the broken bolt.

here is the problem. nobody in town has a replacement bolt for the bearing assembly here in orlando, florida!...can i substitute or better yet, has anyone substituted a different bolt of similar strength properties in place of their torx bolts and if so, exactly what did ya use?............thanks!.....(i am gonna post this is the discussion" section for better "exposure" as i think it could benefit those attempting to do the replacements and for them to have a spare bolt on hand).

I can't imagine putting a hex head bolt in there, there is just barely enough clearance with a torx bit to remove/install the bolt, not to mention doing the same thing with a socket.

well, the job is all done:D . well, start imagining! the thickness of the head of the torx bolt is greater than that of a "standard" bolt so, it is very do-able:upthumbs . in fact, with a standard bolt, ther is more room however, i think i like the "bite" that the torx bit gets in the torx bolt. i had a hard time with 1 bolt on each rear wheel that required me to torch the housing a bit and, with air tools, remove the bolt.
