89 bose radio problem

Thanks I will check this weekend. Do you happen to know if there is a common grounding point?

I also need to check if the woofer is ok, I am wondering if my Son was listening to "his" music and blew it, it sounds like the high range speaker is working

There is only one speaker in each of the four locations (doors and the 2 rears). Each speaker is about 4-inches round and it is both the tweeter and woofer on one! Actually they can really punch some sound when working correctly. Each speaker housing has an amplifier that gets power from a relay point as well as a low level input from the radio. I think the 92 has two modules for the radio while my 89 has only one. But, anyhow it sounds like the "blasting" phase is actually what is normal. When it is weak, you probably are lacking power at the rear amps. Maybe check that underdash relay or look for a bad ground. On the 89, there is one power feed coming back for both channels. Yours might be similar. My best advise is to get a shop manual with the wiring diagrams. I got ine for the 89 and it is a God-send when troubleshooting these pesky problems.

I crossed some railroad tracks and all of a sudden the rear speakers blasted and sounded great.

Any suggestions as to what I should look for?

Sorry, I know that sarcasm is the lowest form of humor, ´ just couldn’t help myself.

If both of the rear speakers are going on-off together your problem is before the amps. The grounds are always suspect on our plastic cars. I have replaced one Bose relay as well.

BTW from 90 through 96 the front speakers are a 2 way enclosure with a small woofer and tweeter while the rears are Dr. Bose’s idea of a base reflex with a single driver. I converted my rears to sub woofer’s driven by a 50 watt Alpine.
