'90 dash LED partially inoperative (dim)

Yesterday, my 1990 started having LED display problems in the dash. Some of the segments are intermittently dim in the display, but only in English mode. Interestingly, for example, at 38MPH, the segments are just fine (the 8 uses all the segments). But at 36MPG, some of the lower portions of the 6 are dim. When in the metric setting, all segments at all speeds seem fine. This dim segment problem in English mode also happens in the odometer/trip odometer section.

When starting the car, the lower sements for MPH in the self-test more are dim (but not "out"). Any ideas on this? Would this necessitate a rebuild of the display, or a computer change, or???

I could just run in metric mode and learn that, or move to Canada perhaps. Thanks, Tim

After 15 days and so many lookers, I wold have thought someone might have an clue. Must be a tough one! Hasn't goten any worse though.
