'90 Vette has a Whistling Noise...

90 VETTEÕS got a whistling noise

I have checked all the hoses and belts..donÕt see anything wrong there.....How do you know if its just a loud alternator? This is the type of noise its producing....sorta a whistling, wining noise....the alternator was replaced last year with an aftermarket from the autoparts store...I have no problems resulting of this noise....just sounds weird....is this just normal?

By the way, alternator bearings are notorious for failing early sometimes due to the increased underhood temperatures in the Corvette.

Maybe the intake ducting is loose?

ps...thanks...i will try the screwdriver test on the alternator and see what is what....damn man....she's only like a year old...lol

I have a friend who says he never leaves town without a spare alternator. :L

I've had 'em go out in less than a year. NAPA will give you another, but what a PITA to change it every year or so. There is an, however, an alternative [size=-5](which I should look into )[/size]:
