I have a 93 with the ZF-6 transmission. I have a question about my clutch. At times I have trouble shifting into gear particularly if I'm in neutral at a stoplight and then place it into gear. I might be imaging it, but it feels like the car wants to move when I shift into gear. I spoke with a trans shop and they suggested I perform a test to confirm it was the pressure plate. They said I should lightly push it into gear with the engine running and the clutch in. Once I feel some resistance, shut off the engine and see if it slips into gear. I did this and it does seem to go in easer. Does this mean the pressure plate is not fully releasing? I notice the clutch fluid was nearly empty and I filled it to the full mark and pumped the clutch 50 times forum tip) to bleed off any air. Is it possible I have a leak and it's not letting the clutch fully disengage? I don't believe you can adjust the throw. I have noticed if I push the clutch down hard it appears to shift easier. It doesn't feel like there is air in the system. If there is a small amount will it not release the clutch fully? Also on a '93 do I need to pull the slave cylinder to bleed?
I certainly appreciate any help. As a new Corvette owner I'm not sure if I have a problem or just need to get used to the feel. I've just heard some horror stories about the cost of rebuilding a ZF-6 and I'd certainly don't want to rebuild it with on 45K miles on the car.
Thanks again,
Jim
