Hey guys, my antenna has been staying up about four inches from bottom for about the last year, sometimes more sometimes less when ever I shut the radio off, or the car off and close the door. Does this sound like a motor or a mast?

I had a similar situation with my 95 vert.I wiped and cleaned the mast and then I lubricated it.It seems to be OK.I would try that first.Let us know if that works.Make sure the mast is not bent.
good luck

Wipe the mast with a little tranny fluid.(Very little) Does wonders in cold wet weather to keep it from freezing in the down position.

Thanks for the reply's, I had tried wiping it down with Wd-40 and regular house hold oil at different times of course and it still does the same thing, I'll try and replace the mast and hope for the best. power antenna-165.00/ mast- 48.00 in ecklers. Thanks again guys and I'll post back when I get it.

Replaced the mast on my 93 and it was okay for a while. Had to replace the motor eventually. Founf one online for around $65.00. Works just fine. There is a replacemnet procedure which makes it fairly easy which someone gave me here. If you need it I may have it on another computer.

Thanks, I'll do a search on here and see if I can find it to.

All right, heres the update, and thanks 6 shotter for some advice, I got the new mast on saturday and it installed relatively easy but it still didnt go all the way down, so finally on sunday night I got the antenna out, once you take the tire and inner well off, its an easy out, two screws on the bottom of the antenna that mounts it to the plate and then you drop the antenna down and take the ground strap off the front top then spin it and unscrew the ground leads from the back and then you go up top and pull up the carpet in the back drivers side and the wires and grommet get pushe back through the whole once you unplug them and the antenna is out. I didnt have to remove any lights, license plates or anything like that, just those two mounting screws on the bottom of the antenna and the leads on the top. I opened it up by drilling out the black plastic, start with a small bit, there wasnt any pieces in it and it seemed like the gears had a badspot or something, just didnt go back right so I ordered a new one through mid america and it installed as easy as the old one came out but the grounds on top are a pita. Thanks for the advice guys, the viagra wore off and the antenna goes down.
