New member. I sold my "79" three years ago and I can't go any longer with out a Vette. I am looking at a 95 with the ZF 6 speed. When in neutral and clutch out the tranny seems to be whinning. All the posts I have read say a rattle is normal. When I push the clutch in the noise goes a way. The seller says it's been like that since he owned it. the car has 18K miles and looks pampered. Any thoughts?

Sounds like it may have a sticky throwout bearing.

Welcome aboard, enjoy the ride ;)

Try the synthetic Castrol oil that ZF recommends. You can buy it at any BMW dealership (although at a huge price) as it is the oil that they recommend for their M-3 engine. It really made a difference in the 6-speed in my '90.

If you really want to hear some noise, change the dual-mass flywheel to a normal flywheel. :L

_ken :w

Mine 92 does it as well. I might try the oil change in a little while.
