96 has a ton of shims

My '96 has an inch and a quarter of shims on the right hand upper control arm. The left has almost as many. The car only has 65K on it. Was this a typical problem for the C-4 and exactly what's worn? Is it just a matter of replacing the bushings? The dealer says they can't get them.

First off a "Welcome" is in order. We have some really good Corvette experts here and hopefully one who can answer your question will check in here. My personal observation would be "something ain't right here." But I am by no means an expert.

That's completely "Normal" Dude!~!!

If the dealer says they can't get the shims,They are full of "Bull Shisky"............("They probly don't have a REAL Alignment Technician"):L

Shimming is how you set the Caster and Camber!

Find a REAL Alignment Specialist!~!!

I thought he said the dealer couldn't get the bushings. That would suck...

Never could get the bushings from GM,You had to buy the complete control arm!
You could buy the ball joint,but not the bushings.

You can get after market urethane bushings though,If you want it to ride like a brick wagon!
