A/C selector problems

My A/C selector won't slide past the max a/c selection to vent, heater, defrost, etc. It jams up. Before I go tearing into the center console, has anyone else had problems with this? Does this tend to be a problem like something has jumped off its track in the selector or is this a control cable problem? Any insights would be appreciated. :confused

Chances are that your switch has broken off one of the conductor pads inside and is jamming up the wiper on the electrical switch. There are two switches on the selector control. One that switches the vacuum for the box actuator and one that switches the power for fan speed and A/C compressor. If you take out the switch unit you will see the electrical switch screwed to the vacuum part. If it has a burnt spot on the plastic it is probably fried. The copper conductors are crimped onto a epoxy P.C board and the epoxy can burn up and cause the conductor to fall off and jam up the switch.
