A C5 techie book...maybe?

I've read on several forums that high hp cars can't hook up on the street (or even on the freeway when changing gears) very well so the diff. gear ratio is lowered to solve this problem. One very high hp car was runnin' 2.73 gears otherwise he couldn't really use 1st or 2nd w/o burning rubber.

I'd like to see something about this topic

Also, when changing tires widths and sizes, which ones will not affect the abs or traction control?

Also, what is would take to install the C6 brakes on a C5 (rim size and anything else)?

Also, how about oil, trans and diff coolers? Under what conditions are they needed/optimized?

How about A&A Corvettes frame and rail savers?

Installing an automatic antenna in a Z06?

Installing/adjusting/benefits of coil overs?

Installing an STS rear mounted turbo? Turbo boost and compression of an engine?

The most important one of all: which mod will improve a Z06 as opposed to a standard C5?

How about spark plugs wires, throttle bodies, etc and a dyno before and after installation?

A baseline of the stock C5 should be done and then compare after a mod is done to "prove" that an improvement was made (or not). Anything less than that is hearsay.

Some of these have probably been covered on the site but I'll throw them out anyway, just in case.

Two gearheads are better than one. Written by Hib and Paul ... now that would be the real deal. I'd pay $60-$100 bucks for that one.
Hib, Paul
After reading thru some of these posts, I bought 4 books from cartech, about 100 bucks worth, does that tell you something?
herbie

A lot of the proposed book content has been covered in other forms and formats. If this project is to reach fruition, I believe it will need to be presented from a unique perspective. One thing I think would be extremely useful to the DIYer, and that I have not seen elsewhere is how various performance mods affect other mods and maintenance tasks. Two examples:
  1. Why hp gains are not simply the sum of the bolt-ons, and how the various elements interact to achieve maximum gains.
  2. Examples and hints/kinks of how common mods affect other tasks (e.g., with lt headers...spark plug removal becomes easier, while clutch removal becomes more labor intensive).
HTH and keep us posted!

Hib, many of us value your experience, information and perspective. It seems that you are always learning from your numerous contacts in the industry and from owners.

The disadvantages to publishing a book are several. They include the fact that info gets out of date, errors are permanent, procedures may need to be updated to accomodate new parts, availabilites, and methods, and a printed book cannot have new topics included once it goes to press.

Eliminate all these problems and short comings by publishing your book on the Internet.

You can charge the many of us who will gladly pay for your experience and fact gathering. Keep it organized, updated, include as many photos as needed, include a page for us to send suggestions on procedures and questions.

Your book will be alive. It will be always be current. It may evolve. It will not have many errors for very long before we all chime in with remedies.

Regarding your remuneration, include a sign up for a paid subscription for perhaps a year. Offer renewals. Considering the expenses saved for not using a publisher, not printing and not distributing physical books, your project could be more profitable for you, as well as your readers.

If readers want a physical book, they may print from one to all pages. If they want to perform a procedure that you have documented, they may print your step by step instructions and photos for that specific procedure.

you know its funny I was just wondering yesterday if this book ever got put together, I would buy one just to have perhaps put it on my Christmas list.
Is it in print or still just a idea?
