I have got a 90 coupe automatic with 5 problem/questions about my instrument cluster.

1st- when i am doing about 50mph in overdrive at about 1800rpm the shift light comes on?

2nd- the seatbelt light never turns off?

3rd- the tach needle randomly decides when it wants to be lit up at night?

4th- the digital speedo/gas gauge randomly lights up in the day time and then will turns off and you can barely read it?

5th- im pretty sure i know what the problem is i just want to make sure. the oil pressure gauge acts way too sensitive. so as soon as you touch the pedal it looks as if its about to snap off. but at idle it give accurate oil pressure. so im thinking the Oil Pressure Switch is bad.

thanks for any help,
Jamison

can anyone out there help me?

3&4 may be the switch for the dash lights. The dimmer function is just an old style reostat and over time they wear out. Bumps or voltage swings will cause the dash lights to go dim or bright. If you look at one the resistance unit looks somewhat like the inside of your toaster with a contact that rubbs on the resistance coil. Heat, crud and age wear them out.

You are most likely right about the oil pressure switch.
