A major problem

I just bought this 94 vette, in really great shape only one major problem, IT WON'T START, anyway all I get is a "CLICK" so I thought "Maybe the starter" so I put in a new starter/soleniod, nope still just a "CLICK" so I thought maybe the Battery, so I took it out and had it checked, nope! not the battery, it runs fine if I let it roll out of my driveway and pop the clucth, but if it dies out I'm in trouble........any one have any idea what it could be? I could sure use some help.
Also my fuel bars don't show up, when I go to try to start the engine they are on the screen but once it starts up they go away so I don't know how much gas I have, I have pushed all kinds of buttons but no luck, any suggestions on that?

Have you tried cleaning the Pellet on your key to make sure the security system isn't your problem? Use Isoproply alcohol and make sure the both sides are clean. I would remove the negative battery cable for several minutes, reconnect, then try to start the car again. I have heard of the contacts in the ignition switch going bad but the problem is ussually the key. Hope this helps.

Well I disconnected the battery yesterday to have it tested, but I will try cleaning the key and I'll let you know.......thanks

The 'click' (very loud) usually results from a weak battery or dirty terminals. Check all battery wire ends, not just at the battery. Often the 'other' end of the ground connection needs cleaning too.
A 'load' test is necessary to really test the battery. Just because it reads 12~14 volts with a meter is not sufficient.
My '95 suffered the 'click' if it sat for several days or if the interior lights were left on for an hour or so (engine not running). New battery fixed it right up.
