this happened on I95 south towards washington dc. it was a cool day around 40 degrees or so. i was just messing around with no one really around me and decided to drop the hammer and feel the pull of torque from my ole coupe. i dropped down in 2nd gear around 75 mph and she quickly jumped forward begging for more of the cold air. hit 3rd gear at around 90 mph and felt the rear wiggle for a second and at 100mph let off. i figured that was my fun for the day but i started to think "has this ever caught third like that before?" i couldn't remember and didn't think so. it just caught me off guard cause with those big 285 45 17's i wouldn't think she had enough doodads to do it but she did.

my car is totally stock no shift kits as of yet or any other mods besides a healthy tune up.

any of you guys with auto's ever do this? just curious :D

Mine will chirp the tires on the 2-3 shift but never the 3-4.

Radar :beer

Damn Mike, two posts in one day about you running amok on the street! :L

I had an '87 auto convertible, and it would do it.... it was actually scary at times.... How good are those tires you have? pretty fresh or getting worn down? Before I replaced the tires on mine it was really loose... after new tires it was still loose, but would grab a hold of the road much quicker.

gotta get some stress relief somehow! :J

tires are in good shape but have been drag raced a few times. GSC's the RR is new with only bout 5k in miles left is same as when i bought the car but all 4 at the time looked pretty new.

i'll be looking to get a new set by summer. probably BFG comp TA's in fronts ang BFG drags radials in back. haven't made up my mind yet. i don't wanna go with netto's cause of drivability. they just seem like they'd pick up all the nails on the road.

do you race a lot? those BFG drags are a really short lasting, low mile tire... just something to keep in mind and consider when you make your purchase.... I think no matter what tire you pick it will be better than the GSC... after all, it came out in 1992, so they basically use tire technology that is 10+years old.... much has changed since then:)

I am still running GSC's on the rear... they are ready to be replaced, so I am shopping again myself

i wouldn't say alot but i do race it sometimes strip and street. i know they are a soft compound but i spin alot off the line especially in this colder weather.

what do you suggest?

thanks!
