Getting closer to removing the body on my 81, but am wondering what if anything needs to be disconnected from the AC to the body. I have the Noland Adams video and it doesn't help in this area (although I highly recommend it for just about every other aspect of the body lift). I am just a little leary as all my manuals say to have the AC serviced only by trained technicians. Any help would be appreciated.

Copvette81,

I am new to the C3 so please verify / confirm this suggestion. I have been looking all over mine and here is my $.02...

If you are lifting the body with the heater / AC "box" still attached to the firewall you will have to disconnect the AC lines to the evaporator unit. You will also need to disconnect the heater core hoses.
Hope this helps...

The reason you should have the A/C serviced by a qualified technician is so they can recover the freon. You don't want to vent it into the atmosphere. The technician can recover it in specialized containers.

Thanks for the advice guys, I already took off the heater core hoses, but just wasn't sure about the AC, redldr1 not sure what you mean by evaporator, is that the same as the accumulator? John

John,

I believe the evaporator is the unit that sits in the air box with the heater core. It is what the air is passed through to cool it prior to being routed to the vents. It has the AC lines connected to it that will need removed prior to the lift...

Wayne,
thanks for clearing that up, i am getting the system discharged by a pro, and I will be sure to take the lines off from the evaporator(now that I know what it is) thanks again for the help.
John
