Thanks, Chuck

Cant find it any key words i could use?

Thanks, Chuck

Don't know your exact wiring schematics compared to my 80, but the brown wire on the blower motor connector near the heater core box in the engine bay is the low speed fan power wire. Instead of cutting the wire, I was able to remove the wire from the connector. This shut of the low speed function which is now the "off" position. I am now using that part of the connector for my 12+ for my electric choke on the carb. One you find the blower motor connector, look for a brown wire. If you don't have a brown wire, try removing other wires from the connector (don't cut them) until you find the low speed power wire.

I am such a newbie I can’t even seem to find the wire any more info on this. I don’t know a lot about corvettes. I just have always liked them and figured I would buy it and I love it so I got this car the day before thanksgiving and it was a deal I couldn’t pass up just don’t want to be driving around with the blower always on.

Thanks, Chuck

I'm not at home so I can't look but my recollection is that there is a plug on top of the heater box in the engine compartment with three wires going into it. This is right in front of the passenger seat on the firewall but in the engine compartment.

As I recall the other post, It said to bend the brass spade down that the plug connects to for this wire so that there is no contact. Mine is three wires in the plug so I didn't see any other way. Obviously you have to be carefull doing this or you will break the spade off.

I am so lost Help Me pics if possible I need help.

Thanks, Chuck

Here is a link to a site that has wiring schematics plus other info for a 1980 vette. The wiring schematics will be somewhat different yet similar. This will give you some insight. If you can't connect, try again later. Sometimes his site is down. Another great site is www. corvettefaq.com. I would STRONGLY urge you to get the Haynes shop manual plus the GM shop manual for your year...1976. I found my GM shop manual off ebay for $20.00 versus new at $100.00. You really need a detailed wiring schematic of your 76 to help. Also get yourself a Radioshack or similar electrical tester. I have bought lots of tools from my local pawn shop. Saves lots of money. As Bobchad said, look on the passenger side against the firewall. You will see the heater core box. Assuming your 76 is like mine look for a plug with 3 or so wires. Unplug it completely and turn on the air. If the blower is dead, you found your connector. If you are very careful, you can use a very small screw driver to remove the spade connector. Look down in the plug and you will see a very small piece of metal that keeps the space tip inside the plug. If you push that small piece of metal down with a screw driver you can slide the spade connector out thus removing the wire without cutting it. I sure hope my description makes sense. Kind of hard to explain in words how to remove the spade connector from the plug. As I have learned by trial and lots of errors...never force anything. Usually it will break! Remember how old and brittle these parts are.

I have a 1977, and I can confirm that it is indeed the brown wire.

Check out this pic. If you are standing at your front passenger tire and look down at the engine compartment, this is something like what you would see.

The connector in the center of the pic is the connector (with the 3 wires). The brown wire is the one 80 convertible spoke of.

Hope this helps.

Dumb question which wire is it I labeled the picture 1 and 2 I don’t want to screw with the wrong one.

Thanks, Chuck

It is brown wire #2.

Beneath that connector, there's some resistors which allow for the variable speeds of the blower.

Instead of cutting the wire, unplug the connector, and using a flat screwdriver, you should be able to work the brown wire (and it's metal attachment spade) out of the connector.
