Active Handling-Competition Mode

What exactly happens when the competition mode is activated by pressing down on the "Active Handling" switch for 5 seconds?

I believe that traction is turned off but active handling remains when in competitive mode.............

The only time I use the competitive driving mode is at the drag strip. I suppose it would be useful at the road course as well. The only time I turn the whole thing off is at the autocross. It is on a big flat surface with nothing to run into. I see no reason to defeat a safety system without a very good reason to do so.
