I'm only an hour from Indy so I could probally go check this car out. I sent the seller a message asking where at in Indy they are located so maybe I can run over there Saturday. I dout I'll have anything else to do!!

OK......just saw their phone number so I gave them a call..... Their dealership should be easy to find and within an hour drive so it won't be to far to go see. The guy told me that they have gotten all kinds of calls asking about the car and that this is "the real deal". Not sure what kind of deal he is talking about I'll find out! He also told me I had better call before driving over there just to make sure they still have it because of all the calls they are getting!!

What day will you be there? bringing the car for the show?

As for that 85.. Is it just me or does that Callaway body just not seem to fit nice.

Looks like a bad install job. All the cars I saw at Bloomington were just how I expected an Aerobody car should..

Jeff, see my post on this Forum under Invited To Another Show.
I plan on getting into Chi-town on 11/18, with my car arriving on the 19th, which is set up day. The actual show will be the 20th and 21st.

That's the first thing that came into my mind! I looks more like a mold to me then the body kid. Or the painting clear coat isn't oke anymore.

Areo

I remember seeing someone in the midwest was making an look-alike areo kit for awhile a few years back :confused Would want to make sure this was real thing before bidding on car for this. JMHO ;shrug

Stalker? VANACORS by chance? No, those were different kits. I haven't heard of a Callaway Knock off. I wonder if he would like to sue.....

Ike, That is a good point - My Callaway AeorBody components all have small tags "grafted" into the pieces - I will NOT post what they look like or describe them further however, I f you would like one verified - either check w/ Callaway Cars or send me a picture by e-mail :cool

Hope this helps :m

p.s. Kinda makes me wonder then about the molds that were for sale a while ago...

That body does look weird, but the weirdness might partly be due to the paint looking very oxidized, and those 16" wheels. It gives the whole car an odd look. But the close-up shots don't seem to have poor panel alignment (at least no worse that the hood and upper door alignment) or anything. But the car does look sort of dumpy for some reason.

I'm lost Chris, were these body molds that were for sale a while back actually real Callaway molds or did someone under the table fabricated these. Good move on withholding the identity of on Callaway tagged panels. I know there are some vultures out there ready to seize on the opportunity to produce fake parts.

I think I figured it out.. every Callayway Aerobody car I have seen in magazines or in person has the belt line molding in black doesn't it?

This one is body color. Also the fins behind both wheels are usually black too right? I think that is where it does not look right.

Out of all the different body 'kits' I have seen the best 2 are the Aerobody and the Shinoda kit.

Chris, is there a way to see if these are "real" Callaway Aerobody parts or fake one's? You're talking about a little tag Callaway puts on there body molds but can we / you view them from the outside? or underneath the car? And where to look :)
I think faking these parts is realy hard, you need some cash to copy them in the first place a real Callaway body as original. And i don't know if the market for a "fake" body is realy high. I know of one here in Holland and the one for sale in England and this looks like another body only.
I've you got one it's no problem for me (oke for me only real Callaways) but please put the body then on a Vette that is worthy (is this correct english?) of putting the Aero body on. But if you want the body without the Snat of B2K engine, this is maybe a good change. I'll just wait till i can buy a real B2K :D

Take a look at the location of the blisters, this might be giving it the weird look. :(

The car does seem to have black painted molding. But it seems like it's only black on the edge and bottom? The top part is white. In some of those side shots you can see the black. You can also see the lack of gloss in the paint. I think a paint job and new wheels would do wonders for the odd look of it.

But 1985 was pre-ABS, pre-3rd brake light, and pre-aluminum heads. I'm not really in to them as much. And I'd wonder how it makes 350hp.

Callway Panel Tag

On My 1991 You Can See The Tags On The Panels Behine The Front Tires On Both Sides [battery And Fan Motor].the Tags Are Under The Clear Regsin.they Have A P/n And Serial #.the Panels Are Harder To Get Too.

From what I have found you could get pre 91 or 91 moldings on the late added aero kits. I think the molding being half painted makes it look odd. Actuality I like the 91 painted moldings on the aero kits.

the "molding" on the AeroBody is actually part of the panel itself :cool They should be painted on the B2K's from Callaway and it makes no difference what year it is, the panel when replaced, all use the same parts (kit#). For example, when you put the door caps on, you remove the side trim and the door cap actually uses the original holes left from that "rub strip" to hold it in place - I have seen some TT's w/ out the painted trim, that seems to be consistent w/ an owners decision -
Hope this helps :m

p.s. 1/2 painted on that car IS rather odd - a lttle TLC and some different wheels & I think a fun "rain car" could be had ;)
