Air conditioning question

I have a 1976 L48 with air conditioning .

I need to have it recharged but I assume that I will have to upgrade to a new dryer that will accept the newer ac freon.
Where is the dryer located and does anyone have a source for it ?

Don,the dryer should be located behind the fins on the right(pass)side of the front fender.
and you should be able to get it any of the Corvette parts vendors!

What are considered the fins ?
Is the dryer near the radiator or closer to the firewall?

Just in front of the firewall

Have you talked to your AC shop? R12 is still available if you want to recharge with R12. Talk to the folks at the AC shop and get their recommendation.

134 is happy with a different orifice tube, a parallel flow condenser, new oil, and 10% less charge by weight than R-12. And it still won't cool quite as well.
