guys my 86 vette started doing this yesterday, and again at 5am this morning!! i am sure i ****ed off my neighbors? luckly i keep a mini rachet for the battery in the car. no owners manual and the GM service manual not much help either? i lock the car with the little black lever switch on the door, shut the door, then put the round key in turn it to the right as far as it can go, then back to straight up pull the key out. hit the door handle and the alram sounds, shut the door and try it again and nothing works except pull battery terminal. its been cold the last couple of days if that could be something? or is some thing not working right and i need parts?
well i tried openning the door another way, turn the key to the right held it and lift the door latch with the key turned 90. alarm didn't go on! so i guess i'll do it that way.

Next time you're in that pickle trying to shut it up in a hurry before the neighbors come out with a shotgun, just disconnect both horns.

Good luck,

yeah, and for the first time since i have had it, the hood didn't want to unlatch on the pass side! i was like oh this is great!! and it was about 25 degrees out! but i knew it was going to be sunny today so i had to driver her today!! snow is on the way and the cover will have to go on!

well it did it again, the alarm went off when i unlocked the door?? this time i did it with the key still turned to the right 90 degrees. is there a way to lock my vette with out it setting the alarm so i don't have to worry about this? its winter here now and i have no garage to work on this right now. last guy said pull the wires to the horns, but if the alarm still goes off vats will not let me start the car, right? oh are the horns for the alarm the same horn from the steering wheel?
