Is this documented?

"Life begins at 180 !"
I learned that this statement will no longer be true when the C6's come out though!

They are supposed to begin life at 186!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does somebody has some trusty numbers ZR1 vs Z06??

I love both cars but I'm a big ZR1 fan! :D

Who cares which car is fastest. I didn't buy a Corvette to be the fastest, I bought a Corvette to buy what I loved...my dream car. I think its rather juvinile to debate which car is fastest. We all know they are fast, some more than others. Just my .02 cents.

Quickest or fastest?

I still think Zora's '69 ZL-1 mule, in spite of all the limitations of the era (tires, transmission, suspension, etc.) wins the acceleration title (until it runs out of gears).

Fastest is a shoot-out between you young guns with your Z-06s and ZR-1s. :D

Now, in a few month's time.............. If you're not inspecting it too closely.......well..... :bang ...maybe we should go for a little ride. ;LOL

But its so much fun to keep the bucket stirred.

I agree with you there bill. When i first read this thread it reminded me of grade school and who could "one up" eachother.

I think I'll throw a couple of bucks down on 67Heaven, besides us canucks have to stick together.

I never did encounter a ZR-1 on the open road.

I doubt we would race though!

It isn't proper ettiquette to reace another fellow vette!

Would like to meet up with a 911 turbo, though!

I might have a Z06 (which I truly cherish :) ), but I'd give my left you know what for a 1969 ZL1 equipped Corvette. Man, what an engine. :s

Thanks Rob! :D

I knew I have seen these numbers in the past somewhere! (I've spend whole night looking for them)

A rapid look at these numbers makes me believe the Z06 it's quickest (not for much).

Anyway if I ever get miself inside a ZR1 of my own, first mod would be a rear axle swap. (4.07 maybe higher) I've never been a big top speed fan. I've been at 165 mph twice in my LT1 with the 2.59 and after that I'd change it to 3.54 to take away temptations!!!
(didn't work, been once at 154 with the new set up and some more mods GPS checked and it was still pulling)

67: I hope we don't have to wait to much to see some videos of your red beauty running posted in Radio Free Canada ! :upthumbs

Agree, but only due to your phraseology. Chevrolet advertises the 2002-2004 Z06 as, "The quickest Corvette yet." This is in their catalogs and their official literature. It finally eclipsed the times of the vaunted ZR-1 and big blocks of the mid-years. Now 'fast' is another story. Judging by terminal velocity and due to the gearing of the Z for acceleration, the coupe and drop top C5's will wind out to higher top speeds and I believe the ZR-1 will too. The C6, even with the performance option is said by Dave Hill to closely approach the Z06's numbers, but not surpass it. BTW, Chevy's offical numbers on the Z are 3.9 seconds 0-60 and 12.5 in the quarter. Now the C6 Z06 is yet another issue and that promises to overshadow the current Z cars. ;)

On the contrary, I cared!

I wanted the fastest, bazz azz, vette I could find that was brand new. Color didn't matter but I ended up with Electron Blue.

Good for you...I'm glad you are enjoying your car. :)

People purchase vettes for different reasons. I think what you are seeing is the "Z06 gene"

Chad makes a valid point and I respect his opinion. However, you will find those that purchase a Z06 are interested in speed, power, and looks! This is what I call the "Z06 gene"

You will usually find that many Z06 drivers continue to modify their vettes to obtain more power even after they purchase it off the floor. Us Z06 drivers are not like your C1-C4 drivers. I am NOT saying we are better than any other Corvettes! I even like some of the early vette years better than mine! But we must own the road. We must be able to get on that interstate and zip right in the speed lane in a matter of seconds. That is the "Z06 gene"

Your vette is awesome and I would drive your car any day of the week!

Thanks BlackVette. I'm glad you saw what i was trying to point out. I do understand about the "z06 gene" believe me, I have the L-48 gene that tells me on a constant basis i need more power. I would love to be able to feed that need but i am a poor college student. Some day i will be able to feed my "Z06/L-48" Gene but it'll have to wait until i can afford to quench its thirst for power. I think it's awsome that you are able to modify your car the way you want it. After all, thats what its all about isn't it? :)
