Just my friends as i smoke the tires from a standing stop. Oh man thats fun ..... , a buddys dad in town has a highly modified 71 L-48 that is currently sitting on 500hp....WOW it is quite a sight to see.

I'm pretty much short everything! :L I'm going to work full-time this summer and get the mods done this winter. I'm going to rebuild the whole thing and let everyone know how it goes. I want to do the 383 stroker, AFR heads, cam, exhaust from the headers to the mufflers, stall converter, the works!

Thanks. I haven't been too upset (kind of cranky for a couple weeks). It was a pretty violent accident and I was VERY fortunate to walk away. I believe she saved my six.

I had already owned the Z06 which was kind of cool. I referred to them as my black Z's. I had bought the Camaro because it was all I could afford at the time. I've been working on it for the last 3 1/2 years. The Z06 came last year because the vette has ALWAYS been my dream car. Given the choice of any car I would choose the vette first every time.

That BlackZ28Turbo was the coolest Camaro I have ever seen or read about. BlackZ28Turbo from what I remember hit a wall after avoiding a truck door that was lying in the middle of the road. What the hell was a door doing in the road anyway? He recently put up pictures "somewhere else" and it was really disturbing to look at them. I am glad BlackZ28Turbo was unharmed as he could have been killed.

I will tell you one thing, if I encountered that fine piece of machinery at the traffiic light I would have been dissapointed as I would be looking at his tailights wondering WTF happened? I would take down his license plate numbers, spend 2000 bucks on headers and cam package and try to find him again!

One of the first drives in my '71 LT1 I caught a glimpse of a newer "bright red" vette in my rear view mirror. He was about 1/4 mile behind me, and on my 2nd glance I could see he was approaching me quite rapidly. Here I was thinking, "oh no, this guy's coming to see what this car can do!"
Fortunately, he pulled up along side (I nodded), checked out my car, and then gave me a salute as he sped off in his C4.
Damn, I felt a sigh of relief.

I'm very uncomforatble to say the ZO6 is the fastest Corvette, especially in Corvette company. Although I know how fast mine is, there is always another out there that is faster, and not a ZO6. My modded 99' FRC would have eaten my ZO6 for lunch, when my ZO6 was stock, brand new.

I agree Todd. There is always a faster car out there. I ran into a guy last year who had a 70 something turbo charged mini cooper. He told me that he would race vipers and beat them. The only problem is that the car got a little squirly over 120mph. I thought it was hilarious.

I agree that from the factory the Z06 is the fastest accelerating Corvette ever produced for the public. The ZR-1 still is the fastest top speed because the Z06 runs out of gear in 5th, and 6th does no good.

However, the Z06 wasn't built to be a drag racer. It's a road course car that happens to be powerful enough to be drag raced respectably.

The main reason I bought a Z06 is because I really appreciate a performance car, and if I'm going to buy one, I buy the best one I can. The base Corvette is a really nice sports car, but the Z06 is built strictly for performance. Alot of guys who have a regular C5 try to make it that the Z06 isn't that much different, but in fact it's alot different. And it's straight from Chevrolet, which I think is really cool that Chevrolet would build a car for hard-core performance minded people. But I'm saying it's not BETTER, it's just different. If you like a convertible you won't like the Z06 as much. If you like Magnetic Ride suspension and all the wiz-bang gizmos, then you won't like the Z06 as much as a coupe. But if performance is your top priority then the Z06 is for you.

That being said, my modded '97 Camaro is faster straight line acceleration-wise than my Z06, but the Z06 does the braking, turning, accelerating, over and over and over again, much better than my Camaro can even though I have aftermarket brakes and suspension on the Camaro. Plus the Z06 is just as comfortable as a regular C5 to drive to work.

But all Corvettes are cool. I really liked my 1995, And sometimes I wonder if I maybe shouldn't have traded it. Also one day I would like to get a 68-74 vette and fix it up, because I really like the shark style.

Unfortunately I found out by going to the car shows with my '95 and my Camaro that alot of Z06 guys are stuck up. :eyerole Big deal that your car is faster than a 'regular' Corvette or Camaro. As far as I'm concerned, if you didn't work on it yourself then it's nothing to brag about, because anyone can buy your same car. It's like paying someone else to modify your car for you then acting like you have something special. You don't. My grandmother can pay the same guy for the same work and have the same car.

Dave I know what you are saying! I go to a local car show that meets every weekend and has a Corvette section there. I am finding that many of the participants are "stuck up." I am not only speaking about the Z06 people as there are not a lot of Z06's there. I am just speaking a lot of the Corvette owners in general. It may be an age difference thing as I am a lot younger than most of them. I find myself going there and not staying very long as I see no fun in standing around talking about nothing!

Yes, I too see this common problem. I actually enjoy attending cruise-ins where there is a wide variety of brand names in attendance, rather than all-Corvette events.

I think part of the answer is that a higher percentage of cruise-in guys actually work on their cars and can appreciate the effort and artistry that goes into creating someone's dream because of what they personally understand about effort.

Show me a well-thought-out 1950's Ford station wagon, any old Nomad, a sleeper Biscayne from the late 60's, even a Nash Metropolitan, etc. and I'll talk the owner's ear off wanting to learn more.

I ;worship car guys (especially if they also happen to own a Corvette )

Who cares which car is fastest. I didn't buy a Corvette to be the fastest, I bought a Corvette to buy what I loved...my dream car. I think its rather juvinile to debate which car is fastest. We all know they are fast, some more than others. Just my .02 cents.
