Well guys,
We are almost finished putting in these new gears. Out with the 289's and in with the 354's. I'd like to send a huge thanks out to my friends in the Capitol City Corvette Club here in Columbia. I could not even consider doing this without Mike & Tim. Everything came apart just fine but it was not so fun putting it all back. We had to take everything.....and I mean everything out to get that new housing up in there. After 2 days all we need to do is hook up the small shafts, drive shaft, and lube her up. Some advice for anyone else considering this, buy new heavy duty side yokes with your new gears. I did not and when we got those out we had to take a file to them in a number of places. It would have gone a lot better with the new yokes. Also, a 12 pack does not cut it. Make sure you go with the case of beer. With these new gears and the 500hp Dart in her I might be needing some new tires....soon. Hehehehe. Next up, cheater nitrous system. I'll keep you up to date and hopefully get some pics online for everyone.

Mitch,

Sounds like this is going to be one kick butt 1981 ( L81 ;LOL ) you going to be able to drive this monster on the highway and pass a gas station, sounds like it will pass everything else ;)

It sounds more like a keg project :upthumbs
