Alternate Air Cleaner System for 1975?

What I don't like about the original air cleaner system is the rubber seal that goes on top. Somehow I've replaced it a couple of times and it does not stay neatly folded. One side always fold inward and it just doesn't look good.

I know that all the components including the rubber seal is supposed to work together as designed with the hood... Anyone tried something else? From another model year perhaps? I'm open for suggestion.

That is not one of my cars, just something I grabed off the web for an example (see mine here: http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/vette73/index_mine.htm ). Nope, I like the cold air intake. Would rather keep it stock.

didn't the 75 have cowl indution?
i think that's why the seal.
