So I took my dash apart to change the clock, in doing so I broke the oil pressure line, at the same time I lost the "seatbelt Lens". So I finally get all the parts, put it all together, and when I connected the battery, smoke started to come out of teh wiring harness that is infront of the fire wall, and the wipers no longer work....sigh!

I cant find a w/wiper wiring harness listed in any parts catalog.

:hb

Ouch! I currently have the dash out in my '72...waiting to get the radio fixed and back in there. Now I'm afraid to turn the key!
I'm going to be fixing my clock too. Did you go with the quartz or electric clock rebuild? Or did you just get a new clock?

have you tried docrebuild.com for the wiring harness?

Hi Tony,

I tried Dr Rebuild. No luck. I'll just buzz the lines out tonight. I have all the wiring schematics (I think). I bought a quartz clock. Beware if the oil pressure line. they are brittle as hell.

F**k*ng ground wires

So in the end, I took apart the suspect wiring harness and found a cooked ground wire. Everything works again (shhh I didnt say that!). So with waiing for parts, it took me only about a month to change my clock to a quartz model.

If it makes you feel any better, it's been about a month and a half for me...and I haven't even got around to the clock yet!

It gives me something to ***** about. My LT-1 is very original and disturbing one thing breaks another. In th epast two years, Ive redone the entire suspension with compsites, new exhaust, MSD, clutch, flywheel, fuel pump, offset trailing arms, new polyester bushing, hurst Comp plus shifter, rplaces the entire A/c system (it still sucks) ...... and in EVERY improvement, I broke something else along the way. But I still love my Vette.

Woo hoo! after fiddlin' with my clock tonight it just started workin! All I did was move the little knob around. Now I'm just waiting for the replacement speaker & radio that my dad-in-law is fixin and I'm all done. Unless I decide to go ahead and replace the heater core...

VERY COOL, Brother!.

My old clock would work also after messing with the knob, but then it would stop. So I opted for a replacement. Is your father in law having the breaker rebuilt?

LIBoater,

There is a company here in the Chicago area called, Lectric Limited, and they manufacture all sorts of wiring harness for all year Corvettes. Now I checked their 2002 catalog and I did not see a listing for the wiper system, but it could be part of a larger harness, not by itself. I don't know for sure. But, here is their address, phone and website address.

I hope it helps out.

Lectric Limited, Inc.

THanks Dan.

Bye the way, is your L82 a 4 speed? My first Vette was a 79 L82 (a real one) with a 4 speed, Silver w/ oyster interior. A real sweet car till I blew the motor. I put in a 330hp LT-1 balanced and blue printed.

You're welcome. No, it's an automatic. I am the original owner.

MAN!!! Talk about having a bad day!
