Must be a full moon.. :L

i emailed the seller and asked him what parts other than the vin # on the car were 1969, and he replied with "don't you have anything better to do?". the really hurtful part of this, was that my answer was "no, I do not."

the really sad part is that some poor sucker will probably buy it without a physical inspection, etc and get it shipped to him before he realizes thathe was "taken for a ride' so to speak. it would be interesting to actually see some of the numbers on the rest of the car (not the VIN) just for laughs.

The guy added to his listing saying " I have to list this car as a 1969 because that is what the VIN is and thats what the title says...PLEASE do not email me asking what year the car is. I know it is modified." It actually looks (at least from the pictures) fairly clean, the engine & interior look pretty good.

I noticed that this ebay seller has no feedback either.

The other day, I saw a fair looking corvette for about 6,500. It looked way to good for the price though. I have a feeling that there are some rip-off guys using ebay to sell (supposively sell) corvettes.

Not necessarily a ripoff - a conversion....looks identical to my 75 ragtop

I suspect mine was hit front-rear and they put on the aftermarket 82 style nose and ass and, while at it, the "super" L88+ hood.

It's entirely possible the same thing occured here - no vin switch, just a lot of changes. I suspect at one time the 82 style fornt and rear peices were either a lot more available or a lot cheaper. Personally, I prefer them over not only the chrome bumpers but over what my 75 was supposed to have.

I was happy they did the rear spoiler from the original no-aero tail, but wish they hadn't done the nose as the 75 has a huge inner bumper thing used for vacuum "storage" (come on now, just HOW can you have a "reservoir"...for....NOTHING! ;LOL ) which substantially blocks the air flow peculiar to the last C3 noses.

Those inner door pads sure don't look like my '75's from where the latch is...then again, how do I know MINE is 75 style and not later either! :L

Just because it's modified doesn't mean it's a fraud - the guy does mention something to that effect - he's not hiding anything.

I'd want to drive it and check it out and check with that state's DMV to make sure the title was in order, but from those pics and at that price, that doesn't seem bad at all, except I prefer ragtops. If I ever finish getting my idiot engine builder's screw-ups fixed on this nearing $15K temporary engine, I might be looking for something decent like that that nobody seems to want.

With all the beautiful, intact vettes out there.... why even BOTHER with this one. Unless, of course, you are up to a challenge! Sounds like somethin's cookin' and it ain't good..... just my opinion. ;)

NO! Keep 'em up! You find some JEWELS!!!

:upthumbs :beer :_rock

BTW, when did the glove compartment and such come in? 77? When did the alternator get put on the right? Ever on C3 vettes? Looks like an older single plane torker type manifold and a holley, headers....

Wayne,

Good observation. The interior is 78 or newer. The engine is not. But looking at the firewall it also looks like a 78 or newer.

Nothing about that car except maybe the drivetrain is 1969.

And I would doubt even that. In my opinion, it's a vin swap. someone probably reported this car stolen years and years ago, and at the time when they were worthless, someone probably had a vin from a wrecked '69 laying around. they collect the insurance $$$ from the supposed theft of this car, then slap on the '69 vin, and they have their car back, and the $$$. I've seen it a thousand times.
