I have a similar problem with my head lights. "OFFBEAT OCTANE" posted
dim drivers side head lights . My '71 , low beams work great, when I click on
the high beam, the low and high beam on the right side are dim. I have replaced
the bulbs, sprayed contact cleaner, same results . Someone told my son the
wire terminal plug is bad . I check and can't find anyone that has a high
beam plug. I will probley have to go to salvage yard. on GM 4 light system
are the plugs the same as the one that on the '71 ? I am talking about the
older GM cars. Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like to me a grounding problem.
The terminal plugs are basically the same on GM 4 lamp systems of that era.

Hi again, Lorin! The high beam socket will be the same in any 4 light system, as the bulbs weren't model specific. Isolate the problem as best you can - pull the socket off of the high beam light and see if the low beam still dims when you kick it up, and try pulling the other to see if anything changes. If one affects it and the other doesn't, you'll know which one is the problem. Also check your wires, you could have a broken wire somewhere and the only current you get is from backfeed. Good luck, hope to see you at the bowling party in 2 weeks!
