The following quote is from a neighbor of mine. His 2002 (30,000 + miles) just experienced the column lock. I told him about the CAC and all the helpful people here . I also directed him to the recent post about batteries and the column lock failure. His results: " Initially once I replaced the battery, I got in and without starting the engine, it made no difference. I still had a "steering lock" error on the display and the wheel did not move. So I went back into the house, and decided, at least I could pull the car out, wash it, and drive it back in using the same pattern. (We had been to the beach and I wanted any salt residue off of it before our long absence) But lo and behold, once I fired it up, the wheel began to turn. Display was gone. So I drove it out to Rte 27 and back, washed it, added fuel preservative, and put it away. So I think the problem is gone, and your recommendation for a battery change did the trick. I'm not registered with the CAC nor the Corvette Forum, but you may want to post this for other vette owners. I will have a chat with the service dept up at Cecil Clark. They could have suggested a battery problem and I would not have had to pay them to tell me it was the battery.....Thanks again Richard. C"
Once again CAC comes through. Thanks from both of us.
