Trying to prevent my neighbor from torching her 1994 coupe, ( She gets a little miffed when I ride by in my C5 ). I offered to help her diagnose her non starting problem. Initial inspection revealed the following. Intermittent starter engagement. (Starter needs to be replaced. It will turn over when cold, but quits after several attempts at starting.) No apparent fire when it does turn over. I can hear the fuel pump come on and pressurize the fuel rails. When the key is turned back to the off position after attempting to crank, the engine will try and rotate backwards for half a revolution or so. My first inclination is to think ignition switch. As the car isnt mine,.(less prone to start tearing into things) pehaps someone can help with some ideas to make her a happy C4 owner once more.... Many thanks......Chris

Start with the basics. Make sure the battery is fully charged. The engine needs to crank at a reasonable speed to fire. Next check for spark and fuel pressure.
