Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Anybody got some marshmellos?

Glad you've been safe so far! Hope everything works out as well as possible with the car and everything else. I always try to remember that money and the things it buys are a renewable resource. May God bless you and yours in these trying times. :w Ike

Those photos are heart breaking. Glad to hear you made it through the storm OK, and everyone is safe.

this is another example of how quickly our lives can change. Go for the C5, enjoy it, and suck every bit of life out of every day. Our prayers are with you.

Sad news...

As others said thank god you made it through and noone was hurt...but man thats a mess on top of everything else. Hopefully insurance will make it right and give you a running start to the C5.

Man those photos hurt!! I am sorry for your loss. And that on top of everything else. I hope things work out for you. Good luck!

Thanks guys for the condolences, the support, and the encouragement. Its such a shame this was really a good car. I've put a LOT of time, blood and sweat into it. I was actually getting close to the car that I knew it could be. The interior needed some attention and it could have used a paint job but it wasn't bad.

You guys are the greatest.

Another Option

Man that brings back memories of a similiar thing that happened to me.

Many years ago I was awakened in the middile of the night by a neighbor who was returning home from work. He was all excited and when I looked out into the driveway I saw why my Vega was on fire in the back. MY wife called the fire department and I grabbed the fire exting. from the garage.

What I found out had happened was this The car was full of gas (I had filled it and drove it home for the night) When the fire department got there they found laying about 15 feet from the car a hose and a cigarette butt. It seems the idiot that was stealing the gas with a syphin was smoking at the same time and set the whole thing on fire. The fire department figured he must have had a flash fire around himself through the hose and ran scared then the fire backed down the fill pipe and the rest was history.:mad :grouphug:

The Fire Chief even looked around searching for cigarette butts but didn't find any. He asked my GF if I smoked, which I do, but I try not to throw my butts in the yard.

Hey Gerry...

I really feel for you. That looks horrible and I'd have to say if it were me... I wouldn't be taking it a great as you seem to be. I am truly sorry for all you've had to go through in the past couple of weeks. I suppose you can say that it can only get better from here. :D

That GF of yours sounds like a keeper. Agreeing that you need a Z06??? WOW, what a gal!

Get that Z06!!! You deserve it!!! :upthumbs

Yea I think you are right. She's a car nut also, owned a couple of muscle cars over the years, works on her own stuff, and even has a Bubba truck, an '85 Silverado 4X4 with 36 Super Swampers. Of course it got flooded but we are thinking of buying it back from the insurance also and fixing it back up. Should be easier ... no computers just a carb. She has a pretty nice ride also ... '05 35th Anniversary Nissan 350Z. She has let me drive it to work a couple of days 'cos she needed my truck to move stuff. I've got to say its a pretty quick car and rides real nice. If you don't watch out you will be in triple digits without thinking much about it.

I had the flag flames for my car ... didn't have much use for them so I pulled them out of the closet held them up to the car and she said "Oh yea those are going on!" We did this on 9/11. The National Guard guys that are all over the place here now all whoop and holler, wave and give the thumbs up when she goes by.

Sorry, I had to hijack this member. I've tried to register twice and the site still won't recognize me. I was horrified to find the Corvette on fire. I was heading to my house to collect more salvage and just went to check on my dog's water supply. I'm glad I found it early, it could have been much worse. Gerald has been the most generous host and is a keeper for sure. He has not complained once about me taking over his house. It's hard to be organized when your belongings are in 5 different locations and 75% is trashed. I will be at Fontana Oct. 13-16th for our Zdayz Fall Fling. I'm on staff this year. So maybe I'll see some of you soon.
