Hi

It is a known fact that the LT4 has a wide range of horsepower from 330-385.

Is this also common in the LT1's on a smaller scale?

I have a 96 LT1, and it feels like it has more then the 300hp it claims. I have the performance rear 3.07, which to me is an economy rear compared to a 3.73 rear.

Using a stopwatch to time 0-60 runs is fruitless because of time lags, starting and stopping.

I want to know too

I feel the same way with my '96. I guess we'll have to dyno them, then go for a 1/4 run!

I speculate I got a real strong one from driving others. Surely there is a wide range of performance in the stock motors.

Chevy claimed a +- 10% range in HP and torque, so anywhere from 270-330 would still be considered normal. That was mentioned by one of the engineers speaking at Carlisle a couple years ago, and I'm fairly sure it's also in one of my tech books.
