I attended a NRCS sponsored cruise night ( no judging stuff ) yesterday in Montreal, and though that I would add a little humour to the evening. I pasted the following sign in my windshield when I got to the show, and then spent most of the evening standing a little ways off, to see the viewing, along with the comments of the various members.

Guess what, I was awarded the first place ( C2 category ) trophy for my troubles. Excellent evening, nice to have met with friends and fellow members.

The only bad-mouthing I received was from a fellow NCRS member who's car I had judged at the last Flight Judging Meet. I had scored his car correctly, but was not to his satisfaction. His loss,,,:D

nice sign Step :)

as for the one guy who wasn't happy about gow you previously judged his car....... Scr*w him!
Years ago I was in the car audio industry and I was also an IASCA (car audio competetion) judge. No matter how fairly you judge someone's car there is always that one person at every event that isn't happy. I wish people would learn not to take things so seriously. The funny part is, usually the guys with the most elaborate and expensive systems were pretty cool about everything but it was the guys with the "so-so" systems that made the biggest fuss about how they were judged. I've never gone thru NCRS judging but i'm sure in many ways it's similar. That just seems to be human nature.

One thing about NCRS that is often misunderstood is that many members (like me) have drivers that are refurbished to their, not judging, tastes. There's room for many interests in the organization.

GOOD JOB! I like it. Would you mind if I borrowed the language from your sign? I had considered putting a sign on mine when it is ready for the local cruise in shows. I was going to put something like this on it..."No, it is not original. Yes, it will eat the a** out of your stocker, stop and turn around before you cross the 1/4 mile line. Thats just the way I like it." I think your sign is a little more palatable to the purist than mine.

NCRS perfection .......NOT

Hello Stepinwolf
I like your sign. I like that you put in on your windshield and you still win
I had once seen t-shirts or stickers that said "not correctly restored" and will need one when my project is done
take care

I also got quite a kick out of being chosen. There were about 70 or so cars at the local fast-food joint, where it was held. Dumb me, was so involved in the going's on, forgot to snap a few pics, my loss :(

I'm with you stepinwolf!!! As you can tell from my picture. :) I used to have the car judged and fairly successfully until restorations became such a work of art that my individuallity became a no-no.

This kind'a look's like my next ride ( www.autoretro.info ) with the tail light thingy. My center lens's and bulbs will be amber, to reflect the newer cars lighting systems, and will be used for the turn signals, and I will have the back-up light's in the same position as the 67's over the licence plate. That along with a double third light option, in the top of both the split windows will sure ruffle a few more feathers. I can't wait to see their faces
;LOL

Step
your story remind me of my neighbor and his car. He has a beautiful '67 L-71 black/black coupe. It's mostly stock but with a few minor changes. For example, the previous owner had the windshield wiper grills chromed and my neighbor left it that way because he liked it.
Whenever he goes to cruise-in's someone has to make a pint of telling him that the grills are wrong. He always replys the same way - "no it's not wrong. It's my car, my name is on the title, so I can do anything with it I like. If I like it than it's not wrong". than he turns away and talks to someone else.
Very much just like your sign! :)

You should say "really? I bought it new off the showroom floor. That's how they came".

People are the best at _______ (fill in word)(where people congregate)
People are the worst at _______ ( " )( " )

I'm looking forward to seeing your 63 coupe progression.

Vanity Plate Bob,
There was a time when 6 taillights were so popular that some thought it really was an option. Only available in California. :)

Guy, Was it 1 item that he was unhappy with or your judging of the whole category. NCRS scoring is pretty straight forward, what did the owner not comprehend? No names needed. Just curious.

The complete issue

I'mAVettehead

For starters, he was dissatisfied with the whole judging process. He kept looking over our shoulders, and passing remarks as to why points were being removed. Once the judging was completed he criticized ever deduct that was made, and kept referring to other cars where points had not been removed.

In order to participate in this type of activity, one has to have a clue as to why we go through all this, and the owner has to have a certain level of intelligence, and comprehension, which was not the case for him.

He is an all around lower body opening, that has no business participating in any way in the judging process.

You'll get that kind all the time in a show & shine, ( I quit that a long time ago) but in NCRS it's spelled out for you, if you can't understand it, it's your problem.

WHY DO PEOPLE THINK I HAVE A PROBLEM. :nono

Those who are having problems, are those who can't except someone else's car being built or restored, other then the way they would like to see it done.

That also applies to the messages that I post. If anyone doesn't like to see what I contribute to the Forum, they can always press the " view next thread " button.

Please take note that I have no problems with myself, or any of my cars

Thanks for seeing through the smoke Paul, I was referring to the owner of the judged car.

I think he was referring to the car's owner, not you Wolf.
