I would like to check the auto trans fluid level on my 98 vette, but there is no dipstick so how do you check it? There are no leaks I just want to see what the fluid looks like. Thanks everyone

Hi there,
Start the car and monitor the temperature of the fluid on your DIC.
You check the fluid level between 80 and 122 degrees F.
Then, raise the vehicle and remove the 22MM side plug from the pan.
The fluid should just drip out slightly.
Allthebest, :hb

It would have to be a long dipstick, since the transmission is in the rear of the car. :D

Seriously though, it is a fairly easy (though non-intuitive) process. Complete procedure here (scroll to Transmissions and Rear Axle).

I just wanted to add, make sure the car is level after you get the front and rear up on jack stands in order to get an accurate reading.
