Auto Trans Misses Shift?

The 700R4 in my '89 has been having an intermittent problem. Under hard accelleration when in OD over 55 mph, it suddenly feels like it comes out of gear and the engine revs free. Sometimes it will vibrate bad and feel like it's trying to shift back in. Other times, you can let up on the accelerator and it will go back into gear. Otherwise, it shifts and locks up just fine. The fluid looks good and I've tried setting the tv cable with no improvement. Any ideas?

Nope, but someday.
HI there,
It would be suggested to look at the 2/4 servo apply pin, and the valve body
The servo also acts as an accumulator for 2, 3 and 4. So, if under downshift it flares and gives a neutral feel, the pin could be binding or sticking.
If that yields no change, you must then look at the valves within the valve body for binding under the transition in fluid pressure.
ITS NOT easy to find a small bind, but you must be detailed and you might just be able to find it.
Allthebest, c4c5
