What I want to see instead of a power hardtop (what I actually want to make for my next vette) is a hard top for the convertible that turns the convertible into a coupe of sorts..... Anyone seen the carrvaggio (sp?) ZO6 conversion that adds a targa roof to the ZO6 top? Well, imagine having a convertible hardtop in 2 pieces... the rear piece, (the roll bar part plus the rear glass), and then the top... the top could work just like a standard coupe top, and the rear peice could bolt into place...

this would solve a couple of problems.

the first is the weight of the hardtop and installation. Installation should be much simpler with the hardtop cut into two parts... one person should be able to put it on without a complex pulley system.

The other problem it solves is the lack of sun! People buy convertibles for the sun, and I am sure as soon as the hardtop is bolted on the sun comes out! with this setup you could take the top off like a coupe and get the security of a hardtop for trips etc, while having the ease of a convertible for normal use, and still get to have open air driving.

To make a long story short, you would almost have 3 cars in one.

PS: Rob... this post would fit well in the post about C6 hardtops as well.

Sounds similar to the two piece vert top on the Gen II Mazda RX7.

I voted for the manual top because it already has a motor...me! And my weight and bulk has to be there anyway!!!

Personally, I agree with Rocketblock.

I would like to see the C6 continue in a direction of lower weight and such things as power tops, in my own opinion, add unnecessary weight.

It's a sports car - don't turn it into a Lexus. If I wanted a Lexus, I'd go buy one.

Absolutely NOT

No, No, No...

No - the added weight, more complex parts / pumps etc to break or wear out - The current design is so simple and effortless

If I want a Lexus, I'd buy a Lexus - Now on the Caddy, that would be a fine option...
