Automotive News: Delphi hearing postponed

Bankrupt auto supplier Delphi Corp. won another postponement Thursday of a bankruptcy court hearing on its controversial request to cancel union contracts and impose wage cuts as it restructures. The delay, until Sept. 18, was approved by a federal judge and gives the Troy parts maker more time to negotiate a broad cost-cutting deal with its six unions and former parent General Motors Corp., a deal that Delphi says is vital to its plan to emerge from Chapter 11bankruptcy by next year.

Automotive News: 83% in Delphi's 2nd-largest union take buyouts

Delphi Corp. said today that 83 percent of hourly workers represented by its second-largest labor union decided to accept early retirement packages or cash buyouts to leave the bankrupt auto supplier in coming months.
