My '98 Cpe w/auto has the RPO code G92 for perfomance axle.
Can someone with similar tell me what their RPM's are for 60 mph, 70 mph?

Thanks, I am new to this forum. It looks good.
I like the live "who's browsing" feature.
P.S. This is my 3rd Vette - 70 LT1, 87Cpe , '98 Cpe
Sold the all orig. matching number '70 LT1 in 92 for $15k
and thought that was a great deal. :-(

I'm sitting here at my desk at work so this is relying on memory but,at 60 I seem to recall at 18 or 1900 rpm at 70 2000 rpmor 2100.

This bugged me enough that I solved it mathematically and
wrote down the math procedure. It wont be "dead-on" accurate because of several variables that require quantum physics to account for.

Calculate Final Drive Ratio Given Speed and RPM's

(Some variables such as circumference expansion
and sidewall flex are not factored in.)

Using the rear tire 275x40x18 as the example.

sidewall hgt mm (aspect ratio) (2)

275 (.40) (2)
_____________ + 18" (wheel size) = 26.66" (tire dia)

25.4 (inch conv)

26.66" (tire dia) * 3.1416 (pi) = 83.76" (tire circumference)

5280' x 12 = 63,360 inches in a mile

63,360"
------ = 757.26 (revolutions of tire in a mile)
83.67"

RPM @ 60 mph is 1650

1650
---- = 2,357.14 (rear axle revolutions/minute)
.7 (4th gear automatic overdrive ratio)

2357.14
------- = 3:11 final axle drive ratio (3:15 about 1% error)
757.26

Hey Keith5,

Your occupation is showing:eyerole

I think gravity is stronger here in Florida, would that mess up the math?;)

Show season is starting so I just order the Exterior/Interior stickers for my car from Corvette Accessories www.cau-llc.com. Also, SS tips and rear enhancement plate. Can't wait!

I'll be at the Quik Stop tonight drinking RC cola and eating a miniture pecan pie, sayin " Me and the wife are puttin stickers on our car this weekend Bubba! Should be good for at least 2 tenths in the quarter, huh?"

I wax on, I wax off...

Robin

Yup, uhhh , I guess I wuz geekin' it a wee bit thar.
My wife has to occasionally throw cold water on me
to snap me outta that mode.
Hope that peekan pie wuz good.
I thought you were sending me to a joke with "cow-lic.com".
But , that was an excellent link. Thanks!
I hope to shave a couple of tenths myself!

Ha!...

When my wife has to throw cold water on me, its usually not due to a sudden burst of math prowess...:L

Whoa, keith... Check out this site:

http://www.prestage.com/carmath/calc_gears.asp

Click on RPM on top, fill in all the blanks on the bottom except the one you don't know, hit calculate, and there you go!

I've learned how to avoid those cold water treatments!! And since some nice people out there sacrificed THEIR brain cells, I can use mine for, ummmmmmmm, lots of other things :beer

Colorado :w

By the way, go to the home page of that URL if you want to see some other neat stuff: http://www.prestage.com/
