Once in a lifetime experience! I've driven this Corvette daily for 210,000 miles (I love this car!) I pulled away from a traffic signal and drove one mile+/- to an expressway entrance ramp, when I applied the brakes they go all the way to the floor, I pumped serveral times...nothing. I used the emergency brake and down shifting the transmission to pull over to the shoulder. Checked master cylinder, it's full, get back in and pumped pedal again, now the brake pressure slowly returns. Go to my mechanic and he says its the master cylinder seal....its checked and its like new.

Now he thinks perhaps brake pads on one wheel stuck open creating a loss of pressure in the brake system. I hate guessing, expecially with brakes. Any similar experience you've had would help my fears of a re-occurance.

Just had a similar experience, no problems with my brakes then pressed on the brake and it went directly to the floor. Let off and was able press up and get some pressure. I drove like this for a week, it got steadily worse. By the end of the week, I had no pressure at all.

Replaced the master cylinder, bled the entire system completely, and now I have wonderful brakes. I checked all four wheels and the brake lines, but never found any other evidence of a problem.

Put another 500 miles on the car since the brake problem, master cylinder seems OK, did bleed the system. I just prefer not to have anymore surprises.

Thanks for sharing your experience
