Here's an interesting 1990 ZR1 prototype if you are buying for a museum. Other than that, I don't know what you would do with it. Sold For $88,000.

This ZR1 Corvette is an active-suspension prototype. A concept vehicle out of the GM Heritage Collection, millions of dollars were spent by GM developing the active-suspension technology used on GM's GTP Corvette race cars. 6-speed manual transmission. Here's the car from my photos in post #14. It hammered for $220,000. Here's the description.

This heavily pedigreed 1962 Corvette known as "Elegance," has many subtle custom modifications that might be overlooked due to its seamless sleek design. Finished in a one-off color called Champagne Mist, this custom piece is powered by a 500hp LS7 with street and performance polished accessories mated to a polished 4L65E automatic transmission. Rounding out the engine bay is a polished aluminum radiator with stainless air conditioning lines. The exhaust system is polished stainless with custom one-off tips, and suspension is a fully polished C4 on a custom molded chassis. The sleek design and body modifications on the front of the piece are extreme, including removing of the bumpers, with solid grille rings accenting the front with matching side grilles. The coves were also fitted with custom billet inserts. The body modifications include widening of the rear quarters by 2", raising the top body line 1" and lengthening it 1". All body lines have been peaked and/or modified. The wheel openings have been tastefully altered to accept larger wheels and the inner fenders custom-made and molded to the body. All bolts on the piece are polished stainless, the hood and trunk latches removed, and actuators were installed under the side of car completely molded. All the wiring is hidden. Headlight rings were custom-made to eliminate the need for screws. A custom engine cover was fitted with an emblem that matches the side emblems. The beautiful leather interior was all custom-made, including seats and console. Billet spears throughout the interior match the billet side moldings. The headliner and trunk are all leather with one-off billet accents. The car's awards include Detroit Great 8, Top Ten Builder Choice in Del Mar, CA, Top Ten Builder Choice in Loveland, CO, and Gold winner at Corvette Nationals in Chicago. It was also a feature car at the Hot Rod & Restoration Trade Show in Indianapolis, IN, feature car at SEMA in Las Vegas - Meguiar's Car Crazy TV show and Top 12 of Mothers' Shine Award at SEMA, special guest at Long Beach MotoRama and featured in the November 2011 issue of Super Chevy Platinum magazine. Awards accompany the car. The piece has been driven over 700 miles since competing in the show circuit, proving its road-worthiness. This is a one-off, stunning, heavily pedigreed 1962 Corvette. $137,500. seems like a lot of money for a 327/300 car even if it is a 1963 Split Window. It's credentials told the story. It has earned 10 NCRS Top Flight Certifications, a Bloomington Gold OEM Gold Certification, Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Gold Concours and Triple Diamond Award.

Sunday Corvettes

Things settle down on Sunday with the high dollar cars already gone through. There are still some very nice cars for up for bid but the prices are more in the area of what the common man can spend. Being in that category, I appreciate these cars a lot.

Lot#1577 A mostly original 1964 with over 90,000. miles and a 327/300 4 speed sold for $47,300.

The End

Well, that's the end of the Corvettes at Barrett-Jackson. I did skip a few that were too much like some others I had already covered, but not many. Some prices were bid prices but most included the buyer's commission. If there are any specific questions please ask and I'll try to answer. Next I'm going to sort out a dozen or so of the top cars of the auction that were not Corvettes and post them in the "Other Transportation" forum in the General Forums section. I'm also working on sorting out my pictures from the Russo and Steele auction. There will be a thread soon so watch for it.
