I parked her about 4 weeks ago...and today i went to start and the battery was almost dead...had to jump...question is:
last year i didnt have my clock working...this year i fixed it...could it drain enough in 4 weeks to kill it? or is it just time for a new battery. its not too old but i need to know. any opinions?
Thanks all!

I think that a month is a long time to let the car, that has a working analog clock, sit with the battery connected. Even on my new vehicles, the manual tells you to prep the car if you plan on leaving parked for more than 2 weeks, to prevent battery drain.

My clock kills the battery real fast also.

I just leave a wrench in the back and disconnect it.

There is a simple twist knob Ecklers sells to do the same thing.

The other option is to set up a trickle charger.

i guess its all of the above...thanks for your input...its an autozone battery..it was in her when i rescued her....not that thats a bad thing..its just that if "I" were replacing the battery in "my" vette i would be getting a "better" brand of battery...this is probably 4 yrs old....used 3000 mile per year...and from the looks of it my alternator is 31 yrs old too boot.i usually remove it for winter, im surprized it was almost dead so soon...

i think this is the time to think about the sweet chrome alternator i have seen and a new dry cell battery....

Soooooooo, now i would like to pirate this thread and ask opinions on switching from standard to dry cell?
are the cost vs benifits ,worth the price diffrence for a car I use as a show car /summer driver...i like to put the best in her but i am practical....(cheap!)...i hate to dump cash down the drain....
Thanks for the assist, Chas:w

No clock is going to drain a battery in a month, and there are no keep-alive memories to maintain either. Could be something as simple as your glove box/storage compartment light not shutting off when the lid closes.
