Better Check that spare

The rattle was in the spare carrier, that big dirty black thing hanging between the mufflers. So I took it off to adjust the little hangers up a bit. You think your vette is all clean and together? Take that thing off! the spare had 6 pounds of air, and looked like Junior had been a dirt trackin'. Nasty. Now it's all better and a flat in the country won't mean making new friends (banjo from "Deliverence" in background.)

After spending my new years eve and morning in the middle of nowhere, waiting for my buddy to bring me a spare tire he had in his shop, I must say a spare tire is really something to have and make sure it is ready for use.:ugh

I know from first hand experience. In my not so smart early teen years, I took the spare out to save some weight. Sure thing I needed it and it wasn't there. It is back in because I found out it helps in a rear end collision. Hopefully that wont happen, but it is there anyways.

Taking the spare out has nothing to do with not being so smart. Just called experience that you lack . IMO you must be fairly smart, you bought a vette instead of some rice burner. :D

Man, I feel better and will (now) take my time putting the spare and carrier back on my car, after doing the diffy change.

It really does collect a lot of dirt. I wonder about that joke-of-a-tire even working with the 17'ers everywhere else, given the stiffness and geometry of the suspension. I carry a flat fixer can or two, as my jack won't get under the car when a tire is flat anyway.

Spare hit the garbage a long time ago. Won't fit over the brembos on either the front or rear. Fix a flat, and if things are really bad, AAA.

I druther have the spare. You can keep 2 pair of clean underwear and fifth of Wild Turkey under there for spontaneous road trips.
