I have read where you shouldn't use K&N filtercharger products to clean and re-oil a Blackwing filter. Of course, I read these things AFTER I did.
My question is this, is it the cleaner or the oil that is bad for the blackwing. I know the K&N uses cotton gauze and the blackwing uses synthetic material. I also know what some will say, "Just buy the Blackwing stuff." Well, I am in Italy and shipping liquid through the mail is against regulations and it would cost way too much to have it FedExed to me and I already have the K&N stuff.
That being said, would it be ok to use a mixture with just water and dishwashing detergent to clean a dirty Blackwing? Dishwashing detergent has ingredients to break up oil and crud. And as far as a re-oil...I don't have any ideas.
Thoughts?
