Does anyone know how to put a grommet on the brake master cylinder reservoir? I was told to push and wiggle but it only goes on half way then slips off. Is there any tips I should know? By the time I get it on, the grommet is pratically destroyed on the inside and fluid seeps out. :hb

What are you calling a 'grommet'.... the cap diaphragm/baffle?

If you are referring to the rubber diaphragm under the cap, some collapse, and some don't.

Its the rubber piece that sits under the reservoir and goes over the master cylinder. Its called a grommet in my FSM.

were did you find new ones from?? mine are all dry up and cracked too, but no fuild is getting past them? i wonder if grease on them would help install?

The service manual shows a pilot tool # J34121 being used to install the grommet and says to lubricate the grommet and master cylinder with clean brake fluid.

Looking at the manual I do not think that you will get the grommet on with out this tool or a reasonable facsimile there of.

Put the rubber piece onto the plastic resovior first then push the resovior onto the master cylinder it should be no problem that way.

I got them from a dealer at $12 each.

Is it possible to scan the page to show me the tool?
