I'm going to change the pads and the brake fluid on my 87. My question is, can I spray the bleeder valves with WD40 to help with loosining them up? I don't want to contaminate the new fluid.
Thanks.

The fluid should be coming out, not going in, so it should not matter. You know, of course, that WD-40 is actually a cleaner and not an oil? If you truly must use a lube, use a minimal amount of penetrating oil.

Use plenty of brake cleaner and air to get/keep everything dust, dirt and oil/grease free and CLEAN.

Also a good idea to have a eiher a brake or a closed box wrench if they're that snug. I think it's an 8mm.

use something like JB penetrating oil or Penray . Be sure not to get any on the brake pads and use brake cleaner on the rotors.

This is a new one to me. I've never seen a car where the brake bleeder valves required a lubricant. Usually they're tightened just enough to keep the system closed.

I had to use a little Liquid Wrench when I did mine last year. It seemed like they weren't touched since the car was built!

It won't hurt anything.

You can spray em a bit, the trick is DO NOT use an open end or adj. wrench. Use a hex socket or box. I've found some of these are pretty tight & if you strip it you'll be replacing it.

Actually replacing with speed bleeders would be a smart way to go:)
